Trading cards are nothing new. Since 1887, baseball cards have been manufactured and shared across the world. The beginning of trading cards was commonly found in retail products such as candy and tobacco products. In 2013, the world is observing a different medium and style of trading card as society increasingly intersects with technology. Two weeks ago, a “Ninjeh artist” and “lover of bacon” came up with a clever and original idea: create Twitter Trading Cards for the Internet’s most beloved. The artist behind the popular trend, #TwitterTradingCard, on twitter is @MyBlackNinja. The cards are brilliant. Within the first few hours of the creator’s tweets, citizens of the Internet quickly caught on and some began requesting that the original poster create one in their name. And it’s contagious.
